Two million copies!

I’ve received some amazing news from my publisher and I still can’t quite believe it… my books have now sold more than two million copies in the UK!

Sales in the UK across all formats

Hitting this special milestone feels like the perfect way to start a new year and of course it wouldn’t have been possible without enthusiastic and dedicated readers picking up my books, leaving reviews, telling a friend or family member – whether you’ve enjoyed a paperback, hardback, ebook or audiobook.

So I want to say a huge THANK YOU to all my readers (and listeners) for their support during 2022.

I’ve been incredibly lucky to celebrate some other highlights too, not least of which was seeing my 2019 thriller The Holiday arriving on TV screens, first on Channel 5 and then on Netflix. To be informed by my children (via our family WhatsApp group) that it was at no.3 on Netflix UK was quite a surreal moment!

More recently I was able to spend a day on location with the TV company adapting my novel The Catch into a four-part drama. I had a chance to meet the fantastic actors Jason Watkins and Cathy Belton – who play Ed and Claire – and was even invited to be an extra in one scene (I knew that CSE drama would come in handy one day 😊). The TV adaptation also stars Aneurin Barnard as Ryan and Poppy Gilbert as Abbie and I can’t wait to see it on Channel 5.

I was honoured to receive a Nielsen Silver Bestseller Award for The Catch, marking 250,000 copies sold across all formats in the UK. It was released right at the start of the first lockdown in 2020, when no-one really knew how booksellers and book-buyers might be affected by all the new rules, so it’s been really heartening to see it find such a big readership.

Seeing The Curfew hit the Sunday Times bestseller list in hardback was also a real treat – it’s an incredibly competitive chart at the best of times, and this year in particular! And of course signing off on my brand new thriller is always a high point of the year for me. I really believe The Mother is my most gripping and ambitious book yet, and it’s arriving on 2nd March 2023.

Topping them all, of course, was my own personal highlight of 2022 – my 25th wedding anniversary. It was lovely to be able to celebrate with my brilliant wife, Sally, and our children, along with lots of family and friends who were with us on our wedding day back in 1997.

I can’t wait to see what 2023 brings!
